Water Seed Grant Awards $2.39 Million in Research Funding
Ten multidisciplinary research projects across the Texas A&M University System have received a combined $2.39 million in funding through the Water Seed Grant program to advance water management solutions in Texas. The grants, funded through state appropriations to Texas A&M AgriLife Research and administered by the Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI), support collaborative teams from AgriLife Research, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). The selected projects focus on areas such as climate-smart agriculture, groundwater management, water desalination technologies, artificial intelligence-guided irrigation systems, and advanced environmental monitoring tools. Among the projects is a study involving Dr. Chukwuzubelu Ufodike of TEES that aims to improve corn water-use efficiency through the integration of sensors, crop modeling, and machine learning techniques.
